The day at the track began with the traditional start of term driver picture. But to celebrate the 60th year of the FIA Grand Prix, each team sent along a car as well.

The interesting thing was the order in which the drivers arrived at the shoot. The new boys were keen and turned up bang on time, drivers and car all together. The further up the pit lane you went and the more world champions you had in your garages the later they got. With one former seven-time world champion bringing up the rear; and didn't the photographers and Michael love it. Plus, there were plenty of - the cynics would say contrived - moments: Seb and Schumi, Alonso and Schumi, Schumi checking out the Ferraris. All good schoolyard stuff.

While his team-mate eclipsed him in testing this afternoon, Michael still holds sway in his native land. His return to F1 has meant the launch of Schumacher TV, Yep, apparently on any given race weekend you can watch nothing but Herr Schumacher: his interviews, all his on-board shots, what he had for breakfast, the whole lot. We also have several other former world champions here to celebrate the anniversary and drive a fantastic array of historic cars. Organisers have managed to round up 18 of the 20 living world champions. The only absentees? Nelson Piquet and Red Bull rally driver Kimi Raikkonen.

In terms of visitors, today was actually quieter than Thursday. Which appeared strange to us foreigners, but speaking to an ex-pat local it's the end of their week, so a day of rest. Here's hoping for bigger crowds today. It's not as if the race isn't publicised - everywhere you look it's RACE NUMBER ONE! in screaming typeface and the newspapers contain very little else. The sideshows on offer aren't bad either with the current trend of mixing motorsport and music extending to Bahrain. On offer we have Sean Kingston and Flo Rida tomorrow night and Timbaland rounding things off on Sunday.

It was a late one for everyone in preparation for tomorrow's Qualifying... here's to a decent run in the afternoon, eh?

That SchumiVader holds sway in his native land is only normal. I know tv-stations, magazines and so on just wanna bring what sells, but the past weeks it seems like there are no other drivers that matter in they're opinion. Even the BBC, how long was that piece on him yesterday, before Quali? Not to mention the poor quality of it (by that I mean BB telling the man's story). Instead they might have given the newby's a bit more exposure, or our 2 wonderfull guys ;-) Well, hopefully in a few weeks this all blows over and we can get to what really matters, the races, in stead of this circus

Group photo was fun indeed, I think it's the first time that they actually brought the cars along with the drivers. Drivers and their respective helments on the asphalt was a popular theme a few years ago.
