I absolutely love the drivers at Red Bull Racing......But I have also gained a passion a little while back for Karun Chandhok.

I think my passion started because of two things....How delightful it was to see an Indian in Formula One Racing and the second being that he was right and royally shafted at HRT (or so I feel).  I feel he is an underdog, with some real upcoming talent and have such a good feel about him (and also Vitaly Petrov).

All I can say is that I am so glad that RBR contacted him to go and do the track run in Korea tomorrow....I think he is the most perfect choice and at a time where it seems like his own team have shafted him, I am so sure this act of goodwill will really pump him up about his true worth.

Thank you so much Red Bull Racing for such a giving act of kindness....I think he really deserves the drive and as time goes on, I can see the RBR really are an all round contributor to ensuring so many more drivers than just their two main ones, get a fair shot!!!  He would feel so pumped.

I also feel it so fantastic to see the cars travelling to destinations one would never expect to see them....A Lithuania run with DC and soon a Polish one with Mark and Jaime there, shows the worldly contribution you are will to make, so that the brand is recognised everywhere and helps to promote Formula One as a whole to people who I am sure are in awe when they see RBRs showcar..

Red Bull Racing....What a team.......................and totally YAY for Karun Chandhok I say!!!..HRT might fly him to the side, but RBR will let him know his worth.....WAY TO GO Karun!!!!

hehe seeing the lotus tent blowing past RBR in qualy 1 with a load of men in green chasing after it, oh i so want that to happen :)

Sarah~Jane106 at 1:35 PM September 6, 2010

Bernie says they'll have to put up tents if the buildings aren't ready in Korea, lol! I hope he's joking, can't see some of the teams being willing to set up the car in a tent. Especially if it's windy!

Yeah...and Kate, thanks for letting him know that we were so happy for him....That is very kind indeed.....I'm so glad he didnt fall through any craks in the ashphalt...I had visions of the back of an F1 car hanging out a big gaping hole in the ground.

Wow that's really cool that he replied to you Kate :) he genuinely seems like such a nice guy.

It's a shame what happened to Karun. But I think this was a nice gift for him. *-*

The showcar with Mark and Disco Dan is making its way to Perth this November for the Perth Festival of Speed.

Couldn't agree more, hon. I know F1 is a business, but Karun is such a lovely guy, and deserves better treatment from his own team. I do hope he gets a drive next season, and that we get to hear more from him on 5 Live during the rest of this season.

Kate at 8:31 PM September 3, 2010

I just sent Karun a link to this page via Twitter at @KarunChandhok and he replied saying he'd read it and that it was "nice to hear support". Made my night.

Couldn't agree more. I really like Karun. He's a breath of fresh air and I hope he ends up with a team that treats him with a bit more respect. I know that HRT probably had their reasons to take on Yamamoto but it still seems unfair :( Of all the new team drivers this year Karun was up there at the top in terms of performance so of the two HRT drivers did he really deserve to get the chop? Saw him at Goodwood FoS this year and he looked a bit of a lost soul. Guess that was partly to do with what was going on behind the scenes at HRT. He has a great attitude and is always so cheery and happy to talk to us fans. In fact I think he has exactly the attitude and spirit that would fit in really well at RBR..who knows what the future will hold ;) Hope he has a blast in Korea in the meantime!

Oh nice, I'm gladd that they give karun a chance to prove what he's made of. Really, give him a few rounds and he should be 1 of the quickest. Hey willough, did you know that we almost have got a Belgian driver in the F1 team? and for the same reason FIA won't let him, MONEY. I guess that Belgium is too small for such things, that's why I think the most talented Belgian driver Sam De Jong isn't ever going to take place in F1...

willough at 1:29 PM September 3, 2010

You are so right....I can take my moral standing on it all I like, but at the end of the day, they are a racing team and it seems a racing team in need of financial projection...So they went for it for F1 survival possibly..and fair enough..I just feel sad faced for Karun...But yeah, cross fingers for next year :-) madamaeviltedi...LOL at you....Offroad tyres, love it!!!! big smiles

mrseviltedi at 1:25 PM September 3, 2010

it's great listening to Karun on the 5live commentary during free practice...as Kate said the guy knows his stuff LOL, but yeah, great he's getting a drive (and hopefully won't need offroad tyres at any point)

Kate at 12:22 PM September 3, 2010

I don't hate HRT for what they did; F1 is a business and a flipping expensive one at that; if hiring Sakon meant they could continue then that's what they had to do. That been said I feel bad for Karun who has shown through Twitter what a good bloke he is and more than that, a real F1 fan, just like us! Hope he has a blast in the Red Bull this weekend and that next year he gets what he deserves; a full time F1 seat.

Peachy at 11:58 AM September 3, 2010

I'm glad Red Bull are treating him well even if HRT can't. I liked HRT at first because they were such an underdog and I liked their driver line-up but I guess the money problems have really got to them for them to pick Sakon repeatedly! I just hope this drive can go ahead for him at Korea, looking at the aerial shot of the track it doesn't look like it's all tarmacked yet so I hope it was an old photo! http://bit.ly/aFHiMm The FIA have said they'll push the track inspection back for another 3 weeks as Tilke said "The track is not finished yet, but it will be," which is a bit worrying!

Alex at 11:48 AM September 3, 2010

I'm really happy that Karun is doing this too, I bet he's been looking forward to it for a while! :D It sucks that someone can just pay to take his seat though. Rage!
